Specific Regulations and Administrative Forms
For :first year graduate students of combined program
Procedure : Application distribution (early July/early January) ⇒ Interview with professors (about a week) ⇒ Application acceptance (state up to 3rd priority) ⇒ The decision made by the Graduate School Committee
Thesis Committee Members :Five persons, including the student’s advisor, and at least one should be from outside of student’s department; more than half of the committee should be POSTECH faculty members.
Time limit : Within 1 year before graduation, students should submit their proposal (Normally the standards of graduate day are 28th February, and 31th August).
*This is calculated by semesters. If, however, there are overdue, it would be judged with the approval of the faculty council within first year before graduation.
Procedures and Required Documents
STEP1. Decide on the date of review for doctoral dissertation.
STEP2. Decide on the date of review for doctoral dissertation
[graduation requirements: Two or more papers as first authors in the International Journal of Science (recognized by the committees of graduate in the department of physics) or the single PRL-level paper as the first authors.].
STEP3. Submit a dissertation and evaluation files for review by all judges 15 days before the review date.
STEP4. Ph.D. dissertation review with oral presentation (oral defense): all committees must attend.
STEP5. Submit to the department office after printing out of "Professor's dissertation review and comprehensive test results report" and "Professor's dissertation review criteria" at POVIS, with signs of judge.
* Submission due: former prospect graduate(February); ~31st December, latter prospect graduate(August); ~30th June.
STEP6. Apply for graduation settlement at POVIS: Notice in June or December
- By 6th January (for latter: 6th July), submit one final version to the department office with, and four to Park Tae-Joon Digital Library, while sending the e-file separately.
Two or more papers shall be published as first authors in the International Journal of Science (recognized by the committees of graduate in the department of physics). However, if permitted by the committees, this may be replaced by the single PRL-level paper published as the first author.
Under Article 3 of the Graduate School Regulations, a person who is attending a Masters and Ph.D. combined program may be granted a master's degree if he or she renounces the course and meets the requirements for awarding a master's degree.
The M.A. dissertation review committee shall be three, including supervisor, and will not review the thesis research plan.
The review and submission of graduation papers are the same as those of Ph.D.
