In this talk, I will briefly describe some recent progress on the emergent quantum states and quantum critical behavior in correlated materials. The presentation includes two parts: First, I will discuss superconductivity on the edge of magnetic or charge instabilities, quantum criticality and Fermi surface reconstruction in heavy fermion metals. Second, I will show our results on the iron pnictides, mainly the uniform behavior of isotropic upper critical field and the unique Hall resistivity and magnetoresistance in variant families of Fe-based superconductors, which provide important inputs to understand the mechanism of superconductivity and magnetism in iron pnictides.
