Prospects for Nuclear Astrophysics Experiments in Korea

Nuclear reactions in stars are responsible for energy generation and nuclear synthesis. Accelerators that produce radioactive ion beams have played an important role for nuclear astrophysics experiments. Experimental measurements of astrophysically important reactions using radioactive ion beams are needed to understand the evolution of stars and mechanisms of some explosive stellar sites such as X-ray bursters, novae, and supernovae. Several experiments at ORNL and RIKEN, and prospects of nuclear astrophysics experiments in Korea will be discussed.
