Photoemission evidences for a (p,p) ordering in electron doped superco…

본문

"Hole-doped higher temperature superconductors (HTSC) are extensively studied. Consensus can be found for their phase diagram, basic electronic structure and pairing symmetry. Meanwhile, electron-doped HTSC have shorter research history and are relatively less explored. Surprisingly, even the basic electronic structure is not well understood.

In this colloquium talk, recent angle resolved photoemission data on an electron-doped HTSC Sm1.85Ce0.15CuO4 is presented. Fermi surface (FS) mapping shows regions where FS is suppressed, which was also observed in another electron-doped HTSC Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4. Such suppression is found to be from splitting of the Cu-O s* band into two by about 0.2 eV. This peculiar splitting which does not exist in hole-doped HTSC can be explained by (p,p) scattering from a static ordering. Discussions on the agreement and disagreement between the data and model will be given.
