"The interaction of physics and biology has a long history. With biology reaching the molecular level since the 1950s physics and physicists have been playing more role in understanding life phenomena and living matter.
Various degrees of coarse-graining must be carried out in describing the Nature. After a brief introduction to some basic biological notions we shall touch on a few topics on different levels of description, including examples from our own recent work that enter the fields of bioinformatics and genomics.
